How Floating Teleprompter handles your data.

Overview
Floating Teleprompter is a simple tool that displays scrolling text as a floating overlay on your screen. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Data Collection
We collect no data. The app does not:
- Send any information to servers we control
- Use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry services
- Include any advertising or tracking SDKs
- Transmit your script text anywhere, at any time
Floaty makes no network requests of its own. The only network activity in the app
comes from Google Play Billing, which runs when you open the upgrade screen or
restore a previous purchase. That traffic goes to Google, not to us. See
“In-App Purchases” below.
In-App Purchases
The app offers optional premium features via Google Play Billing. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details. Google’s privacy policy governs any data collected during the purchase flow.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following locally on your device using Android’s SharedPreferences,
across two files (floaty_prefs for your settings, billing_prefs for purchase state):

| Premium status | Whether you have purchased premium, so the app does not re-query Google Play on every launch |
This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app’s data in Android Settings, Apps, Floating Teleprompter, Storage, Clear data.
Permissions
The app requests the following Android permissions:

| FOREGROUND_SERVICE | Required to keep the overlay active while you are using other apps |

| BILLING | Required to process in-app purchases and subscriptions via Google Play |
| INTERNET | Declared by the Google Play Billing libraries the app includes. Floaty itself makes no network requests. |
| ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Declared by the same Google libraries, so billing can check for connectivity before starting a purchase. |
The last two permissions are not requested by our code. They are added automatically
by Google’s billing libraries when the app is built, and they appear on the Play
Store listing for that reason.
No permission is used to access personal data, media, contacts, location, or microphone/camera.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area, the legal basis for storing your settings locally on your device is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): the app cannot function without remembering your preferences between sessions. No data is sent to us or any third party.
Script text you enter may contain personal information. It is stored solely on your device and never transmitted. You can delete it at any time by clearing app data.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of data we hold about you
- Erasure: request deletion of your data (clear app data in Android Settings, or contact us)
- Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
- Portability: request your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interest
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise most rights directly by clearing app data. For any other requests, contact us at teleprompter@be-it.no.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Norway: Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no.
International Data Transfers
The app itself does not transfer data internationally. However, if you make an in-app purchase, Google Play processes the transaction and may transfer payment data to Google’s servers, which may be located outside the EEA. This is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Children’s Privacy
We do not collect data from any users. The app is safe for all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If the app is updated to collect any data in the future, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app’s Play Store release notes.
